Youth Exchange: Green Generation | March 30 – April 7, 2025 | Lithuania
From March 30 to April 7, 2025, we hosted Green Generation—an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange that brought together young participants from Lithuania, Estonia, Romania, Türkiye, and Italy to explore sustainability, environmental awareness, and green living through hands-on learning and international cooperation.
Set in a peaceful natural environment near Vilnius, the exchange offered a rich blend of educational content, outdoor activities, and intercultural experiences. Participants took part in engaging sessions focused on:
- ✅ Circular economy, global value chains, and renewable energy systems, including nuclear energy as part of the wider green transition
- ✅ The environmental consequences of fast fashion, along with practical, sustainable alternatives
- ✅ Eco-labs at Vilnius Tech University, introducing cutting-edge green technologies and sustainable innovation
- ✅ A tree planting initiative in Vilnius, organized by the municipality, contributing to urban sustainability
- ✅ A forest clean-up at Varnikai Nature Trail, where participants collected large amounts of litter and helped protect local biodiversity
- ✅ Daily reflections on how to implement sustainable habits in everyday life
Beyond the learning sessions, the project created a strong sense of community. Participants led energizers, shared knowledge through peer workshops on Erasmus+ and Youthpass, and developed valuable soft skills like teamwork, communication, and critical thinking.
The evenings were filled with intercultural exchanges, where each country shared its traditions through food, music, dance, and stories—celebrating diversity and strengthening mutual understanding. A traditional sauna evening by the lake added a local touch to the experience.
What made this exchange truly special was the atmosphere created by the participants themselves. Their talent and creativity shone through spontaneous moments of guitar playing, singing, and dancing, turning simple evenings into unforgettable memories. Strong bonds were formed, and beautiful friendships blossomed—united by a shared purpose: building a greener, more sustainable future together.
Green Generation was more than just a project. It was a space where ideas grew, actions were taken, and young people from different corners of Europe connected over a common goal—living and acting for the planet.
